About The Artists...

Metal Menagerie.- KC Scott

KC Scott has produced his sculptures for over 23 years. The evolution of his techniques has earned him the title of one of the finest metal artists in his medium. KC Scott works out of his home near the McKenzie River in Oregon where he continues to produce magnificent new pieces of art each year, adding to his already worldwide famous sculptures. Each sculpture is crafted individually, by hand, without the use of lasers, nor ever mass produced, which assures you that no two sculptures are ever identical. We, too, have discovered that his love for design and beauty is evident in each of the refined pieces you find in The Wood & Iron Gallery.

Mohogany Sculptures

The Mahogany Sculptures of Indonesia and the Philippines have captured the Hearts of all who witness the grace and beauty of our Dolphins, Whales, Turtles, Horses and Eagles. These finely hand-carved sculptures are made by village people who rely on the Rain Forest for their livelihood. The magnificent Mahogany Tree will feed an entire village for one (1) month from the revenue generated by the carvers who masterfully carve Nature’s finest Sea Creatures that inhabit the waters, land and skies of the world. See for yourself what has been gifted to all of us.

Sagger Pottery - Jeff Cunningham

Sagger Pottery, by Jeff Cunningham, is a Divine Blessing for us because we were looking for a high quality, affordable product for our Gallery Customers who enjoy the finer things in life. Jeff feels he ‘stumbled’ into pottery about 15 years ago…we call it our good fortune to have ‘stumbled onto to Jeff’s work. He seems to be drawn to the ‘low-fire’ side of pottery known as Raku, Saggar and Pit Firing. As a result, Jeff fires these magnificent bowls and pots in a container called a Sagger whereby he places various materials such as horse hair, salts, steel wool, metallic sulfates and other similar ingredients that add color to his work. No glazes are used. When these substances reach their melting point, they release fumes that are imprinted on the clay’s surface, and although he can control the process to a certain extent, the results are always a pleasant surprise. We feel you will be pleasantly surprised and happy, too, when you are introduced to this unique art form.

Native Glass Creations - Steve Day

Native Glass Creations, by Steve Day, is beautiful high quality stain glass Lamp Shades displayed on Manzanita vases, hand carved by Don Russel. Steve began creating glass works about four years ago after moving to the beautiful mountains of Mt Shasta, Ca. His work combined with the work of the wood artist create a feeling of closeness to nature and that of Mother Earth. Enjoy these creations and let the light from these lamps flow into your home and into your life.

Jon Mehr- Functional Art Pottery

Jon Mehr's pottery is high temperature stoneware and porcelain that is hand throwen and decorated in Jon's studio in the mountains of Shasta County, California. All of this pottery is completely functional, including the partially glazed pieces; the red clay washes easily and is water tight. The glazes are lead free, dishwasher safe and microwave safe.

Tadina Sculptures- Larry Tadina
The touch of the wood and the feel of the curves draw the hand to a enticing experience of feel and movement as it flows along the lines of the wood sculpture. Tadina wood sculptures start with a concept...a model ...a photograph and then the process of transferring all these essential pieces of the concept to the raw wood begins. The process begins with the chainsaw to cut the outline and some of the angles and then moves onto the carving tools to finish the rough in of the piece. Next there is lots and lots of sanding ending with sanding sponges. This is when the luster of the sculpture is created that people seem to love to touch. There is a smoothness of the wood sculpture that leads an individual into feeling the contour that awakens the senses. The wood sculpture is finished with a clear polyurethane finish applied with a brush and is immediately rubbed with a cotton cloth so the piece is not too shiny. This is the process that shows clear definition and awakens the colors the wood evokes. The touch of the wood and the feel of the curves draw the hand to an enticing experience of feel and movement as it flows along the lines of the wood.
